2 Series Aluminum for Car Plates:
The 2000 series alloy is an aluminum alloy that can be strengthened by heat treatment. It has excellent forgeability, high strength and good welding performance. 2 series alloy also has a good baking strengthening effect, but its corrosion resistance is worse than other series of aluminum alloys. At present, 2036 and 2022 aluminum alloys have been partially used in car body frameworks.
5 Series Aluminum for Car Plates:
The 5000 series alloy is an aluminum alloy that can’t be strengthened by heat treatment. It has good corrosion resistance and welding performance. Therefore, the 5-series alloy is mainly used for the complex shape parts such as the body inner plate. 6 Series Aluminum for Car Plates:
6000 series alloys are heat-treated and strengthenable aluminum alloys, with high strength, good plasticity and excellent corrosion resistance. Compared with the steel plate, the yield strength and tensile strength are similar to 6000 series 2T4 state sheet, and the hardening coefficient even exceeds the steel sheet. Currently, 6009, 6010, and 6016 aluminum alloys are used for outer and inner panels of automobile bodies, because of their good plasticity, and the ability to achieve artificial aging and high strength during the paint baking process after forming.
